    Description

The Philadelphia A's (AL) defeated the St. Louis Cardinals (NL) 4 games to 2 in the 1930 World Series, but the story of 1930 is the incredible explosion in offense.
The National League as a whole hit .303.
The Phillies hit .315 as a team and lost 102 games. Their team ERA was 6.71 and opposing teams hit .346 against them.
Hack Wilson (Cubs) hit .356 with 56 home runs and 191 RBIs.
    Chuck Klein (Phillies) - .386, 250 hits, 59 doubles, 40 HR, 170 RBI.
Bill Terry (Giants) hit .401 with 254 hits, the last in the NL to hit .400.
Over in the AL, Gehrig (.379/41 HR/173 RBI), Ruth (.359,49,153) and Al Simmons (.381,36,165) were among the top offensive stars.
In spite of the incredible offensive numbers, there were a couple pitchers that had great years.  Lefty Grove (A's) won pitching's Triple Crown with a 28-5 record (plus 9 saves!), 2.54 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 291 innings.  Over in the NL Dazzy Vance (Robins) was 17-15 with 4 shutouts and a 2.61 ERA.
    About this set:
Very popular season issued by Strat-O-Matic in 1984
Set up for Basic and Advanced play
16 teams with 24 players each (Yankees have 23) - 383 total cards
HOF rookies included - Lefty Gomez
HOFers in last year - George Sisler
Cards are in very good shape (with the exceptions noted below)
Ten cards are copies (see scans for example, send me a message if you want the full list) - originals were not included when I purchased but I was able to get copies of these to complete the set.
Most corners are sharp but there are some that have some rounding from play and some cards may have light stains from play. I noticed a few with light pencil marks that can probably be erased.
Please see the roster sheets from Strat-O-Matic to see the individual players for each team (scans 2-3).  Also included will be roster sheets for each team showing detailed stats by player for the 1956 season (see scans 4-5 of the A's and Cardinals for example).  Scan 6 shows examples of the cards that are copies and scan 7 shows some of the few cards with rounded corners.
